ABOUT THE LL.B PROGRAM

LL.B course is the only choice for those who wish to make a career in judiciary and jurisprudence. The options are many, the students can either work in the legal departments of private and public enterprises, become legal heads or advisors as their experiences progresses or they can opt for private practice and can even rise up to the level of justices in various Indian courts as per their experience.

The legal practice and the judiciary practice is governed by the BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA through its network across the nation. One of the prime responsibilities of the BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA part from supervising the interest and the welfare of legal practitioners is to promote the legal education and defining standards thereof. The council also advises the universities offering the law courses upon the required courses updates.

COURSE CONTENT

The three year course is divided into six semesters. The detailed semester wise course structure is given below.

Semester-1

  • Jurisprudence-1 (Legal Theory)
  • Constitutional Law of India.(Nature of the constitution & the fundamental rights)
  • Law of Torts.
  • Law of Crimes (The Indian Penal Code)
  • Contract-1 (General Principles of Contract)

Semester-2

  • Jurisprudence -2
  • Constitutional Law of India-2 (Structure & working of the Indian constitution)
  • Family Law-1 (Hindu Law)
  • Contract -2 (Specific Contract & law of Partnership)

Optional Papers (Student has to opt for any ONE optional paper between the following)

  • Indian Legal and constitutional History
  • Laws of Taxation

Semester-3

  • Family Law-2 (Muslim Law)
  • Public International Law
  • Administrative Law
  • Law of Property & Easement
  • Professional Ethics, Accountability of Lawyers & Bar Bench Relation (Practical Training)

Semester -4

  • Company Law
  • Labour & Industrial Law
  • Environmental Law

  • Criminology & Penology
  • Law of Trust, Equity & Fiduciary Relation
  • Banking law including the Negotiable Instruments Act
  • Arbitration, Conciliation And Alternate Dispute Resolution (Practical Training)

  • Civil Procedure Code And Limitation Act
  • Law of Crimes – 2 (Code of Criminal Procedure, Juvenile Justice Act And Protection of Offenders Act)

  • Land Laws Including Ceiling And Other Local Laws
  • Drafting of Pleading And Conveyancing (Practical Training)
